Play Types

We track several types of pre-shot Play Type combinations including if the shot was successful, how many attempts were made and respective percentages. Those combinations represent the action which was made to get to the shot. Additionally, we record information for successful FG from the respective combination, the total attempted FG from the combination, plus the percentage made FG out of all the attempts for the particular combination.

You can view a description of each of the individual Play Types in the sidebar.

Defense against Play Types

For all these pre-shot combinations, we track how each player defends them. For the purpose, a player’s personal match-up needs to perform a particular pre-shot combination in order for our system to include it in the breakdown. Pick’n’roll shots defense includes both roll and handler field goals. Those defensive parameters have “Opp” or “Opponent” in front of the combination’s name and we also track successful shots, total attempts and percentages.
