Dump Out
An untargeted act of getting the puck out of the own zone of defense. Dump out ensures the team that its opponents leave the zone and must start another attempt to attack the goal.
The dump out could be prevented by opponents’ interception. In this case the analysts would record an ‘unsuccessful dump out’ along with the player who made the interception. In case it is not clear whether there was a dump out or a pass attempt (if there was a teammate who could catch the puck), then the program would record a pass attempt.
